Arrival:
The plane ride was long, to say the least. We took two flights: the first to Santiago, Chile (11 hrs and 30 mins) and the second to Cordoba (1 hr and 30 mins). Most of us were very tired by the end of our travels, but when we got to the exit to the airport our students and their families were waiting there with welcome signs! We went home with each of our families and dropped off our stuff before heading to a club to eat hamburgers that some of the kids cooked for us. They taught us a dance which was really fun. After some time for showering and quick naps, we all met up again at Guemes for popcorn and nuts and walked around the scenic area.
My host family greeted me with so much warmth and hospitality as we discussed everything from embarrassing middle school stories to music to local politics over milanesa neopolitana. El Centro and Guemes were full of beautiful architecture, great food, and kind hosts. –Alexa
After hearing about Argentina from Sra. Levin for two years, I loved to finally experience and see all of the culture that I learned about. We got to see a Paseo and multiple Gallerias, and my host mom stuffed me full of milanesa and dulce de leche. –Rory
THERE ARE SO MANY DOGS. I LOVE THE DOGS. I have met 5 of the dogs in my family and there are still more. One of them went in my backpack and stole my diarrhea pills during breakfast and the little brother had to find me and give them back – Laura
My host family is so sweet! They are so nice and they want me to eat constantly! Everything is great, my host sister is really fun and smart!- Tara
My host family is awesome! They’re super sweet and we talked about living in LA vs. living in Cordoba over dinner, which was very interesting. We all went to an art-fair-thing and it was fun. (My host sister’s friends are also really nice and we all sat together at the fair) – Addie!
I’m never going back home. Cordoba is absolutely spectacular, and my host family is extremely nice. Everyone is very patient and willing to speak slower so I can understand them, and they are very welcoming. My family is constantly shoving food in my face (which of course makes me very happy), and I can’t wait to get to know more about them. -Alec
